tech pre-test assessment
I like the idea of creating a technology pre-test given to students before they start a class. It is important that the instructor know exactly where the student's capabilities are...so we do'nt have to spend a large amount of class time getting folks on board. I got this idea from Heidi Olson. One challenge that I see is that often times students register at the last minute.

I do like that idea. I use a self-assessment of tech skills in one of my courses, then toward the end of the semester, we retake the assessment and see what areas we still need to cover. It gives the students ownership in what we are covering when they see that I'm using the assessment they took and their judgments about what is importnat to determine how to direct the class.
